The Orthodox Church is the national religion of Bulgaria, but it’s a mixture of tradition and paganism and few people actually practice it. But they aren’t observing any other religion either. Less than 2% of the population of this former communist country is considered to be evangelical Christian and they are seen as part of a cult by most. But every day God is at work in this region, as young men and women are being touched by the message of Jesus Christ.

Options for ministry in Bulgaria in 2026:

Fusion Music Camp July 9-19

Our friend, Yoan, invites unchurched youth to a music camp where they will learn to play an instrument and put on a concert all in one week’s time. The beauty is that they come for the music, but many come to know Jesus in the process! This team will go to Kuystendil a city about an hour away from the capital. The requirements are some instrumental and/or vocal talent as well as people willing to share the gospel with youth.

Banya Camp July 9-19

oin Pastor Tsvetan and his team as he seeks to build a new generation in his youth group. This year, Banya Camp is not a traditional youth camp; instead it will be a summer full of day activities. There will be Bible studies, worship, games, challenges and outdoor fun. Fitness is required as hiking and other adventures are a part of the camp.

Academy August 1-9

Here the participants have already made a profession of faith. They were summer volunteers (high schoolers that are NEXT and college students that are interns) that helped during the other summer camps or youth who are stepping up as leaders within their youth groups. They come from all over Bulgaria. This is a week of pouring into them as future leaders as we’re hiking and spending time with the Lord in nature.

Team participants should be mature believers ready to teach and disciple with creative and yet strong Biblical lessons. You absolutely must be conditioned for hiking in rigorous terrain for days!
