Here's what The Treehouse is learning in October...

This Month’s Biblical Theme Is: God is King

God is King, reigning with absolute authority, justice, and love over all creation. As the sovereign Ruler, His power is unmatched, and His wisdom guides the universe with perfect order and purpose. Unlike the earthly king the Israelites cried out for, God’s reign is eternal and unchanging, filled with mercy and grace for His people. He governs with a heart of compassion, inviting all to find refuge under His divine protection and provision. As King, He calls His followers to honor Him with reverence and obedience, promising an everlasting kingdom of peace and joy for those who trust in Him.

Monthly Memory Verse: Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory! (Psalm 24:10 ESV)

Week 1

Israel’s First King  1 Samuel 8:1–9; 13:1–14; 15:10–29

King Saul was chosen to lead the Israelites, but he disobeyed God. Because he forgot that God is the one true King, Saul’s time as king would come to an end.

Brite Idea: God is the one true King.

Week 2

David is Chosen  1 Samuel 16

God told Samuel to anoint a new king after Saul disobeyed God. David, the youngest and smallest son of Jesse, was chosen to be the next king of Israel.

Brite Idea: God sees our hearts.

Week 3

David and the Ark  2 Samuel 5–6

After a great victory, King David brought the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem. Ignoring what people thought, David openly danced and worshiped God in the street.

Brite Idea: God is worthy of worship.

Week 4

God’s Covenant with David  2 Samuel 7

God promised that David would have a son who would build the temple, but in an even greater promise, God said that One would come from David’s family who would be the King forever. This One was the Savior God promised throughout the Old Testament.

Brite Idea: God promised a forever King.
