Hurricane Helene Mission Trip – 2

Essential Details:

Departure/Return Time: approximately 2:00 PM on Wednesday; return by 11:00 PM on Saturday

Travel: By van

Accommodations: Local economy motel; you may opt to stay at the host Church and sleep on air mattress.

Cost: $60.00 for housing if staying the motel. Zero for housing if staying at the church. Food on travel days.

Food: Provided by Samaritan’s Purse except for travel days

Age Restriction: Must be 14 years of age or older

Other Restrictions: Must be a regular attendee of ChristWay and be able to do physical labor

Immunizations: Tetanus vaccine within the last 10 years is highly recommended.

Supplies/Equipment: Provided by Samaritan’s Purse

Requirements of Participation:

Watch your e-mail for further information
You MUST participate in a team meeting Sunday, December 8 to obtain final details unless notified otherwise.
Prepare yourself spiritually through prayer and the Word.
Be current on all routine immunizations, including tetanus, and consult with your doctor if necessary.

Before You Go:

Prayer Support: Please gather a prayer team to lift you up during the trip and remember to pray for those whose lives have been affected by the storm.
What to Leave Behind: Expectations about how the trip will go—we never know exactly what to expect, but we know God has a plan!
Phone Usage: please focus fully on serving, with texting and phone calls reserved for the end of the day in case of emergencies. Please don’t post photos of people without their consent. We never want the people we help to feel exploited.

Action Steps:

Pray about your participation. If you decide you are called to go.
Get approval from your employer and seek the support of your spouse; then,
Go to Events.ChristWay.Church and complete the forms specified no later than Thursday, November 30. Space is limited to 10. We will notify you if space is available ASAP.
Once you have been notified space is available, you must immediately register with Samaritan’s Purse as part of ChristWay’s team. This starts a background check process which must be complete. You will be sent an email on how to do this. A parent must accompany students between the ages of 14-16. 16+ can be sent with chaperone. Parent must sign a release for student to participate. This is all on their registration website.
